for those of you who dont know the Wii is nintendo's next console (formerly known as the revolution)

ok to start off i think this is the best next gen system for many reasons:
1. more interactive games with the motion sensor controllers
2. looks nice
3. good lookin graphics, just as good as 360 in my opinion
4. able to download old nintendo games and some other classics
5. can play gamecube games
6. has 4 ports for gamecube controllers and 2 slots for gamecube memory cards
7. ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT...LOWER PRICE POINT

im definately going to get one with the new zelda game as soon as i can get my hands on one, not sure the demand for em though

wat do u guys think bout the system?

I had finally talked myself out of getting one...convinced myself I didn't need it. And then E3 hit and I started following all the live-blogging. So now I'm hawt for one again. Worse than before, really.

Rev-- I mean Wii is cheap. XBOX360 and PS3 are expensive at the moment. That means I'm getting only one console this year boys and girls.

One thing though... Motion sensor controllers? That will screw up my FPS life (most of what I play on consoles.)

I've gotten to where I like the name. Not that I ever didn't like it, it was just different and a bit weird for a few days. But it is so Nintendo.

Of course, they could've called it the Nintendo Colostomy Bag and I still would be buying one.

Everyone keeps mentioning how cheap it is. It's assumed to be cheap, but they haven't released any prices yet, right? Last rumors I heard hovered around $250, but a Sega exec was quoted as saying it would come in under $200. But no one really knows yet.

Oh, and, uh, this just in...

Despite the value of the PS3... it's too high price for my tastes, I can always get FFXI 13 1-2 years latter...

Xbox360 does not have the games I want and I feel there a bit too high for my tastes too.

I'm very impressed with what nintendo has done, last system I had with them was a SNES

it's about time I give them a serious look again.

I hope the snes/nes squaresoft and enix games as well as the phantasy start series show up on there virutal console.. I was very surprised to see TurboGraphics also show up on there list.

I think nintendo will do very well this round (they always made money with all the console wars, including vs PS2, DreamCast, Xbox).

Yes the N64 was $199 and the NGC came in at $200. There has yet to be a nintendo system released above $250.

I think the name is ridiculous - when I first heard that they were changing it to Wii, I thought it was a joke. WTH kind of market research led to them thinking Wii is a good name? LOL

The first image that pops in my head when I hear "Wii" is some kid going down a slide.

Yeah, me too, first thing I thought was "Wheeeeeee!". Which will probably be the first thing I say after swinging around a sword with the Wii-mote. Actually, it'd probably be something more like "By the power of Grayskull!" or "Thundercats, ho!". Or "'Tis a flesh wound. Have at you!".

Anyway...did you read the marketing blurb stating why they selected the name? I found it seemed to fit precisely within the Nintendo philosophy. I like it.

Seems interesting. The last Nintendo console I had was an SNES, and the last console of any kind was a PSOne. With the old game downloads plus the low price point, I just might have to get one of these.

I don't look forward to trying to explain the name to my wife though. "You want a what?"

After nearly 9 years of marriage, I know better than to try to explain something like that to my wife and she knows better than to ask.

I think she'll be interested in it, though, for very specific games, like maybe the orchestra conductor one. We've spent more than one night in the last week up past midnight playing Karaoke Revolution Party together on the GameCube. Finally found a game she loves to play.

My console history: Atari 2600 -> PlayStation (psOne) -> GameCube. The big gap between the 2600 and the psOne is due to the C64 and various PCs. Love the GC, but gotta have the PC, of course.

True, but until only a few days ago, Sony had never announced a console for above $299. But I hope it'll be <=$250. <$200 would be great.
